Garry Crabtree
CEO and President, HBG Constructors
Former Chief Operations Officer, Garry
Crabtree, is the new Chief Executive Officer
for HBG Constructors. He comes to us from
the European HBG Group with over 25 years
of experience in heavy civil construction.
Originally from England, Garry graduated
from Manchester University in Civil Engineering
in 1974. His early experience included marine
work at the Brighton Marina, and on the
Thames Barrier. His work on the Thames was
part of the largest civil engineering project
ever commissioned in the UK at that time.
Garry served as Project Manager of the
Royal Docks Pumping Station and managed
several dock projects. By 1991, Garry was
an Area Manager, and became the Director
of Major Projects in 1994. Garry most recently
served as Deputy Managing Director and sat
on the Board of Directors for Edmund Nuttall
Limited, an HBG company based in the UK.
As CEO, Garry is responsible for overall
company management, construction operations,
and client relations for HBG Constructors
and its subsidiaries. He believes that the
only real competitive advantage is people
and that the "development of highly
motivated and skilled people into effective
teams is the crucial ingredient within a
successful business."
Garry and his wife Pat recently moved to
Colorado from England and have 3 grown sons.
Paul Driscoll, VP and CFO of HBG Constructors,
has over 25 years experience in finance and
accounting and over 15 years experience in
the construction industry. Paul began his
career studying finance and accounting at
Colorado State University and worked as an
accountant for Deloitte and Touche. There
Paul handled audits and public accounting,
and in 1983 received his MBA from CSU, where
he studied information technology. Paul worked
with Flatiron Companies while at Deloitte
and Touche, and after completing his MBA,
was offered a job as VP and General Manager
of the Information Systems Group at Flatiron
Companies. Paul handled all of the accounting
and finance for the $100 million company.
In 1989, the owners of Flatiron Companies
sold their interest in the aggregate business
and Flatiron Structures, one of the divisions
under Flatiron Companies, became its own
entity, now called HBG Flatiron. In 1993
Paul became CFO of the $25 million company.
In 1999, HBG merged all of its North American
holdings into one entity, and Paul was offered
the position of VP and CFO of the newly
established HBG Constructors.
When asked about his favorite part of working
here at HBG Constructors Paul said, "The
people here are my favorite part of the
job. I enjoy helping them out with important
decisions." Paul has 5 children, ages
7 to 21, and has lived in Colorado his entire
life.
