LONGMONT, CO., February 6, 2004 – Five new projects have been awarded to HBG Constructors since November 2003, totaling over $70 million worth of work. All but one project will be constructed in California through operating companies FCI North and FCI South, with the remaining project being constructed by civil group HBG Flatiron in Colorado .
FCI North recently won a project, in a joint venture with Pavex Construction, to reconfigure and widen existing ramps at the Interstate 880/ Coleman Avenue interchange. The project includes plans to add a direct connector ramp from Airport Boulevard to Southbound I-880, replace the Coleman Avenue overcrossing over I-880, and widen Coleman Avenue from four-to-six lanes. A new pump station will be installed for highway drainage facilities.
Located in the city of San Jose , the project was commissioned by the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority and will begin in March, 2004.
FCI South secured a new project to build a replacement bridge over Los Penasquitos Creek at North Torrey Pines Road in San Diego , California . The project, which began in December 2003, will replace a seismically inadequate, deteriorating bridge with one that is wider, stronger, and more aesthetically pleasing. A geometrically challenging, 3-span, CIP bridge structure with parabolic superstructure and radius exterior girders will be utilized on the project, which is schedule for completion in May, 2005.
The City of San Diego awarded FCI South a contract to replace the La Jolla Cove wall and improve the bluffs in and around the immediate area. FCI South will replace the existing tieback wall, stabilize the slope, and install both a new sidewalk and stormdrain. The project is slated for completion summer 2004.
FCI North secured a contract to build a new eastbound bridge for State Route 237 over the Guadalupe River in San Jose , California on December 18, 2003 . FCI North will construct a new 9-span, reinforced concrete slab bridge on precast pile. The 82-meter-long bridge will cross the Guadalupe River , where FCI will also construct channel improvements including eight flood and retaining walls, and levee improvements.
The client is the Santa Clara Valley Water District.
HBG Flatiron acquired a new project to remove and replace the bridge over Niver Creek at Downing Drive, northeast of Denver , Colorado . The contract requires construction of a new superstructure on existing abutments with new curb, gutter, sidewalk and pedestrian ramps with reconstruction of existing inlets, and insertion of anchors at the mid-span for future gas line support.
The client is Adams County Dept of Public Works.
