Formerly known as Flatiron Structures, HBG Flatiron's
origins can be traced back to the 1970's. Within
the last few years, HBG Flatiron, Inc. has taken
a major step into design/build with its significant
role as the managing partner of joint ventures
for the design/build of two toll roads in Southern
California. Working with managing partner FCI
South, HBG Flatiron completed the Eastern
Toll Road, a $780 million project, in early
1999. HBG Flatiron is leading the Saddleback Constructors
team on the Foothill
Toll Road-South, a $644 million project that
is currently in the design stage.
Designing and building its way across the United
States, HBG Flatiron completed the Sagadahoc
Bridge, an award winning segmental structure
connecting the towns of Bath and Woolwich, Maine.
A significant project in many respects, this structure
was Maine Department of Transportation's first
design/build project. HBG Flatiron also provides
construction management services, as demonstrated
on the $295 million, award winning highway project
for the New Mexico State Highway and Transportation
Department.

HBG Flatiron has recently been awarded the Knightdale
Bypass project near Raleigh, North Carolina.
Awarded on June 12, 2002, the $131 million job
includes building 11 miles of six-lane freeway
and 23 bridges. In Charleston, South Carolina,
HBG Flatiron is building the $531 million Cooper
River Bridge - the longest cable-stayed bridge
in North America.
As public funding tightens, public/private
collaboration as demonstrated by the toll road
projects, offers innovative opportunities for
addressing transportation needs. With the proven
skills of its people, combined with the financial
and technical depth created through partnerships,
HBG Flatiron is well prepared for the burgeoning
world of privatization. It brings expertise in
innovative financing that many projects require.
