R. W. (Bob) French, President of HBG Flatiron, Inc., has 25 years experience
in construction, specializing in heavy civil, highway, structures and
facilities projects. He has managed a variety of projects ranging from
dams, bridges and power plants to an automotive assembly plant, hospitals
and airport facilities. He has worked on a number of significant highway
and bridge projects throughout his career, and since joining HBG Flatiron,
he has continued that trend. Currently he is responsible for a series
of transportation projects with a constructed value of over $2 billion.
Bob is overseeing three significant projects in the Boston area. Two
of the projects, the I-90 Logan Airport Interchange and the South Boston
Interchange West, are part of the Central Artery/Tunnel project; the
third is the terminal elevated roadway project at Logan International
Airport. In California, he is involved in three San Francisco Bay Area
toll bridge projects: the seismic retrofit of the historic Benicia-Martinez
Bridge, the construction of the new Carquinez Suspension Bridge and
the construction of the $1.04 billion San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge
approach contract.
In other areas of North America, Mr. French just completed the Sagadahoc
Bridge in Maine, a design-build project; is overseeing the $250 million
Carolina Bays Parkway, a new highway design-build project in Myrtle
Beach, South Carolina as well as the $531 million Cooper River Bridge,
a design-build cable stay bridge.
