Misener Marine maintains a support yard in Tampa
Misener Marine's attractive headquarters building right on Tampa Bay in Florida is bordered by an eight-acre yard. "Marine contractors are a rare specialty," explains facility manager Arne Ruud. "There are fewer than a dozen on the entire east coast. Many of our jobs are small and of short duration. We have to have our own equipment so we can mobilize in a hurry."
In addition to owning most of its equipment, Misener's Tampa facility supports its job sites with fabrication, repair, and shipping and receiving. The facility has its own dock and lots of room for storage. The yard also includes a sand-blasting/painting facility, a paint shop, and a carpenter shop.

Approximately 65 people support the activities of the yard, shop, and shipping facility. In November, a tour of the facilities showed the range of skills of the staff. Pipe pile was being spliced to increase its length from 75 to 150 feet. A ringer crane was being rebuilt, and a tugboat was being refurbished.
