FCI North's new operations manager got into construction through his father, who for many years was director of Colorado's Department of Transportation. When he was 16, his father declared him "lazy" and asked Flatiron Paving Company if they needed summer help. They did, and he's been in construction ever since.
A Greeley native, Mark worked summers through high school and college as a laborer and equipment operator for Flatiron Paving Company. He has a graduate degree in construction management from Colorado State University. From 1979 to 1990 he worked full time for Flatiron as foreman through general superintendent and operations manager. He spent 15 years total with the company.
From 1990 until June of 2000, Mark worked as a project manager from RGW Construction, and then as area manager for O.C. Jones and Sons. Mark is delighted to be back with Flatiron. "This is a can-do kind of company," he says. "It's the place to be!" Mark and his wife Patty live in Tracy with their son Andy, who is 16. His son Charlie is attending California PolyTechnic University in what else-civil engineering!
