Dave Horn becomes project
manager for FCI North
Dave Horn is a rare guy in the construction industry. He lives only five miles from his job as structures engineer on the 580/680 project. As the project wound down, he took over as project manager at the end of June. He explains, "I was slated from beginning to stay with this job from start to finish because I live so close."
A California native, Dave was born in Burlingame. His father was in home repair and building, so he was always interested in construction. As he drove around the state to water ski, he became interested in dams and bridges.
Dave graduated from Sacramento State in 1987 with a degree in Construction Management. His early employers included S.J. Groves Construction, Torno, and M.L. Shank. Before joining FCI three years ago, Dave worked on two different tunnel jobs for M. L. Shank in San Francisco. Tunnel work is repetitive, so Dave decided to take a whack at building bridges. He has enjoyed the challenges with FCI and is looking forward to the opportunity to serve as project manager.
Dave and his wife Jill have three children: Jarret (15), Collin (12), and Kaitlyn (10). Dave coaches a youth basketball team, and enjoys camping, water skiing and wake boarding.
