Claremont Project operating crusher and batch plant on site
Since the two adjacent construction projects at Route 30 in Claremont, California, are using high quantities of material, FCI purchased a crusher and installed a batch plant near the site. The operation is located in the foothills in a sandy, rocky area perfect for creating needed construction materials.
Here's a sample of the kinds of quantities the batch plant is dealing with:
- 136,000 tons of aggregates for lean concrete base
- 152,000 tons of aggregates for cement-treated permeable base
- 109,000 tons of concrete aggregate
- 71,000 tons of sand for concrete
- 98,000 tons of base.
Plant manager Jerry Brokaw ran double shifts on the crushing operation for three months, but the six-man crew was able to move to a single shift in November. The batch plant has a 4-man crew, and the paver an 11-man crew. Concrete paving started in mid December, using Portland Cement Concrete Pavement, or PCCP.
