The $23.4 million project to complete the T-shaped interchange in San Jose, California officially started in late August.
FCI crews are currently completing one of three embankments. These embankments will have to settle out for up to three months before adding the abutments.
FCI crews are currently also driving pile, pouring footings and columns and widening an off ramp California's winter rains are not likely to affect the settling process for the embankments, but they can affect the schedule for pile driving and falsework.
Project manager Walt Quincy explains that the project involves tying on to two previously constructed bridge hinges. The owner is the Valley Transportation Authority, a new client for FCI. The Authority raised funds for the project over 12 years through a sales tax.
FCI crews will be tying in to two uncompleted bridges.
