If
you're looking for a quality kind of guy, John Ross is your man. With 41
years of experience in QA/QC and construction engineering, he's the perfect
person to manage QA/QC on the Cooper River project. Formerly quality manager
at the New Mexico 44 project near Albuquerque, and Silverado before that,
John has been with Flatiron Structures since September 1996.
John graduated from the Florida Institute of Technology in 1970 with a degree
in electrical engineering. While he was in college, he worked in a materials-testing
laboratory. "I knew a lot about materials," he recalls, "but
gradually I got more into the civil engineering end of the business."
His work has taken him all over the world. In his 21 years with Morrison
Knudsen, he traveled to Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, Colombia, Canada, and the
Philippines. He has also worked for GE, General Motors, and the U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers. Some of his more interesting projects have included
working on an airport runway, a chemical disposal facility, a coal mine,
a mechanized mail-handling facility, and a truck assembly plant.
"I like dealing with people and handling technical problems,"
says John. He has also enjoyed traveling all over Europe and Asia. His wife
Ana accompanied him wherever his career took him. The Rosses have three
adult children. Greg has an electrical engineering degree and Johnanne a
degree in pharmacy. Isabel, at 18, is interested in medical school.
When he's not paying for college expenses, John enjoys fishing. He owns
three boats, and is currently building a house in Jacksonville for a home
base. He drives 225 miles home every weekend, but that's not unreasonably
far by his standards. Meanwhile, would anybody like to buy a nice house
in Albuquerque? |
