Project Overview:
FCI South
constructed a 400-meter-long by 9-meter-high tie-back wall,
and three cast-in-place, box culvert bridges. This $36.5 million
freeway extension was delayed for several months from the
original September 2000 start-up date because of problems
with relocating water lines and a natural gas pipeline. However,
crews were able to proceed with work on two drainage systems,
a box culvert and a vertical wall channel.
Construction of the reinforced concrete box culvert at the
San Antonio Wash was finished in early October 2001 and all
roadway work was completed in February, 2003.
