Project Overview:
FCI South
is building a 400-meter-long by 9-meter-high tie-back wall,
and construction of three cast-in-place, box culvert bridges.
This $36.5 million freeway extension was delayed for several
months from the original September 2000 start-up date because
of problems with relocating water lines and a natural gas
pipeline. However, crews were able to proceed with work on
two drainage systems, a box culvert and a vertical wall channel.
Construction of the reinforced concrete box culvert at the
San Antonio Wash was finished in early October 2001 and the
entire project was approximately 50 percent completed by September
2001, and all work should be completed by this winter.
