Project Overview:
On Monday, July 2, 2001, HBG Constructors
signed the contract documents at a
special ceremony in Charleston, South
Carolina for construction of the $531
million Ravenel Bridge. This cable-stayed
bridge over the Cooper River will
replace both existing bridges, connecting
historic downtown Charleston and Mt.
Pleasant. The Cooper River Bridge,
to be named the Arthur B. Ravenel
Bridge, will be the longest cable-stayed
bridge in North America, spanning
1546 feet.
Our relationship with South
Carolina DOT is based upon our
positive experience on the Carolina
Bays Parkway Project in Myrtle Beach,
South Carolina. We continue to strengthen
that relationship by working together
on the Cooper River bridge project.
